Dr Joanna Soroka is an Investment Partner at Hitachi Ventures, leading strategic healthcare investments across techbio, life sciences, digital health, and AI-driven medicine. She is a scientist and investor whose career centres on translating complex scientific discovery into real-world health impact. She has a strong track record of scaling breakthrough medical innovations and promoting equitable access to transformative technologies to ensure they reach the patients who need them most.
She has robust experience bridging health tech, venture capital, and medicine, having previously served as a Manager in biotech and pharma consulting at PwC. She also led strategic R&D and innovation management in healthcare IT, diagnostics, and precision medicine at Konica Minolta’s Global R&D and the European Business Innovation Centre.
A molecular biologist and geneticist by training, Joanna holds an M.Sc. from Jagiellonian University, a PhD from the Technical University of Munich, and completed postdoctoral research as a Marie Curie Fellow at Cancer Research UK.
